Classic Slip-Ons from Vans have always been "crazy".
The Classic Slip-Ons were launched in 1977 and the iconic checkerboard motif was introduced in the early ' 80s, when the Van Doren noticed that children enjoyed decorating their plaid shoes. Slip-On checkerboards have become the Global Icon Of Vans thanks to their presence in the cult movie Crazy (Fast Times at Ridgemont High). For the first time since the film's debut, Vans launches a new limited edition of the Fast Times Slip-On with its Anaheim Factory Collection, in tribute to a shoe that has become part of popular culture. The appearance of Slip-On checkerboards on the big screen consolidated the representation of Vans as an essential element of Southern California style. To celebrate the film's debut, Steve Van Doren, son of the founder of Vans, has made a limited series of Fast Times Slip-ons to give to The Hollywood premiere. The Vans Anaheim Factory Slip-on 98 DX features a sturdy 10-ounce checkerboard canvas upper and a higher ribbon and features a Fast Times print on the ribbon that wraps around the entire vulcanized waffle sole. The shoe has been revisited in a modern way with the integration of a vans UltraCush footbed.
