Carhartt, Inc is an American clothing brand founded in 1889. It is still a family-run business, owned by descendants of founder Hamilton Carhartt, based in Dearborn, Michigan.

Carhartt was founded to produce workwear for railroad workers. Its initial growth during the 1890s focused on the need for durable and durable clothing for this category of workers. Over time, Carhartt products developed distinctive features to extend their strength, including the use of strong yarns, reinforcing rivets at the points of greatest stress and a range of high-tech materials, resistant to flame, abrasion or water.
